A study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives confirmed that exposure to tobacco smoke before birth for the mothers who smoked while pregnant raised the rate of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. The study also found a significant relationship between ADHD and childhood lead exposure.
