Woman from Jacksonville Sentenced to 25 Years for DUI Wreck That Killed 3 Students
Circuit Judge Stephen Simpson from Harrison County, Mississippi used the single word, tragic, when he sentenced Krystal Marie Teston to four consecutive 15-year prison sentences on the charge felony DUI. Teston caused an accident that took the lives of Lindsay Miller, Beth Finch, Maksim Sisoev, and injured Josh Miller and Nichole Thurman. The incident occurred on I-10 when Teston swerved her Honda Accord from the left lane to the center lane. Lindsay Miller, in a Toyota 4-Runner, swerved to avoid an Teston’s car, lost control of her vehicle and collided with the concrete median. The 4-Runner flipped many times before coming to a rest. Teston was charged with five counts of felony DUI. Simpson ultimately sentenced Teston to 25 years in prison followed by five years of parole.
“As the judge said, it was tragedy all the way around,” said Lindsay’s father. “There is nothing in this that brings us any real joy.” “I lost a companion and two really good friends,” said Lindsay’s brother Josh. “I lost my best friend in my sister. All I can do is go on and live the life God has for me, be the man God wants me to be.” Lab technicians were able to detect the presence of hydrocodone in Teston’s blood sample taken shortly after the accident and suspect she was under its influence when she caused this tragic accident.
