Serious Accident on BW Parkway in Laurel
A serious three-car accident resulted in the closure of the Baltimore Washington Parkway in Laurel, Maryland near Route 197. The incident caused police to close down the northbound lanes for over five hours. A U.S. Park Police spokesperson reported that early in the morning on Thursday, December 27 a tan Chevy crossed the median, drove into northbound traffic and crashed head-on into a white Infinity and a blue pickup truck. The driver of the Infinity and the Chevy were pronounced dead on the scene.
Emergency personnel removed the driver of the blue pickup truck and a passenger from the other vehicle and rushed them to the Laurel Regional Medical Center. Police investigators are still investigating the incident. They request that anyone who saw the accident call the U.S. Park Police at 202-610-8737. According to U.S. Park Police Lt. Scott Fear, “We believe there were other vehicles in the area. At that time of the morning, it’s a pretty busy time on the Baltimore Washington Parkway.”
