Multiple Car Accident Injures Three Pedestrians
In the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn, an automobile collided with a group of people, including a couple of students as they were on their way to school. The students attended J.H.S. 258 in Brooklyn. A local media outlet revealed that the victims were hit after a three –car accident at 64th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway. Residents in that area feel like that intersection is especially dangerous. "Crossing the intersection I do not feel safe at all," commented on resident. "I remember, just the other day, I was crossing I had the light and a car went right through the light; I almost got hit by the car. It's a very bad intersection over here, very bad." Another neighbor said, "there have been a lot of accidents for quiet a number of years. You have to be very careful." A sixth grader and an eight grader were taken to Lutheran Medical Center with serious injuries.
Emergency personnel had to amputate the sixth-grader’s foot and the eight-grader received a serious head injury. It is possible that a third child was also injured, but this has not yet been confirmed. An unidentified adult was also injured in the accident. One of the drivers involved in the accident is being charged with driving while intoxicated. The three-vehicle accident involved a black pick-up truck, a van and a white Lexus.
