Second Accident At Canadian Worksite Provokes Questions
The Alberta Federation of Labor is calling for action after two foreign workers were killed at a construction site; it was the second accident at the site. The federation voted unanimously to close the Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. tank farm site and the president of the group, Gil McGowen, said that all work should cease until the site can be declared safe.

Last month, a tank collapsed on the site, killing two temporary workers from China and injuring four other workers. On Saturday, a similar tank collapsed; no one was injured. "We think it's reasonable to assume that if the first two tanks collapsed, others may be at risk of collapsing as well, and that's why we think that all the operations of this particular contractor need to be shut down right now," McGowan says.
