Man Killed in Construction Accident

A deadly accident occurred on Glover Road in Durham, North Carolina. Workers had been excavating a septic tank when 37-year-old Charles Franklin Williams attempted to place a chain under the tank so it could be removed by a crane. However, the tank shifted and trapped Williams against the trench wall.

The Durham fire department was able to free Williams from the trench, but he died from his injuries. Williams owned the Charles F. Williams Grading and Trucking Company. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.
